Dhole Control Map

A looper wrapped around eight delay voices, named for the "whistling dog" whose calls echo across the valleys. Basic up front: one footswitch loops, the other stops. The DIPs pick the echo machine (tape, bucket brigade, multi-head, oil can, reverse, shimmer, lo-fi or clean digital) and the pages open it up. Click anything on the drawing; click the footswitches twice to run the looper.

DIP

Top view. DIPs 1-3 pick the delay voice (binary); DIP 4 puts the looper before the delay. DIP 1 is the top switch on the right side.

    Footswitches

Each press waits 40 ms to see whether you stomped both switches. The looper still starts, closes and punches in exactly where you pressed: it keeps a short memory of what you played and where the loop was.

    Signal path

With DIP 4 off, the looper records what you hear (your playing plus its echoes). With DIP 4 on, it sits in front of the delay, so the loop itself plays into the echoes and changing voice changes the loop's repeats.

    Delay voices

DIPs 1-3 count in binary: DIP 1 = 1, DIP 2 = 2, DIP 3 = 4. Each voice is our own DSP, voiced after the way a classic echo machine behaves. VOICE (page L, knob 6) changes job with the voice; AGE wears the medium in its own way.

    Knob pages

Toggle 3 picks the page. Knob pickup works as on the other pedals: after a page change a knob does nothing until you sweep it past that page's stored value.
