Kelpie — Audrey II Drone
FunBox v3 + Daisy Seed · Stereo · MIDI · Expression
A pitch-tracked drone monster grafted onto the Kelpie chaos engine. Engages a free-running Schmitt oscillator that locks to the last note you played — drones indefinitely, breathes on its own, and gets bigger the more you feed it. Mixes with the guitar signal so you can play over the drone you just summoned.
Knobs
| Knob | Function | Behavior |
| KNOB 1 | Volume | Output level. Unity around 12 o'clock; up to ~2× past noon. Final hard-clip safety net is post-volume. |
| KNOB 2 | Fuzz | 3-stage cascaded clipping. Asymmetric mid stage (positive half pushed harder for even harmonics). Total gain 4× to ~600× scaling on a square curve — bottom half is usable, top half is wall-of-noise territory. |
| KNOB 3 | Pitch | Chaos oscillator base frequency 20 Hz–4 kHz (square curve), AND drone fallback frequency when no pitch is being tracked. Also sets the divider's divide ratio (inversely — high pitch = low divisor). |
| KNOB 4 | Rate | Logic clock speed (1 Hz–2 kHz, square curve). Controls how often the comparator's S&H samples — at low rates you get stuttering, at high rates the gating becomes a noise carpet. Also scales the chaos oscillator 0.2×–5× when drone is OFF. |
| KNOB 5 | Bleed / Drone Level | Dual-purpose: when DIP_1 is OFF, this is Bleed (cross-corruption depth between divider, oscillator, and gate — adds wobble, side-band frequencies, and unstable interactions). When DIP_1 is ON, it becomes Drone Level (0–1 mix of the drone voice with the chaos+guitar output). Internal chaos bleed is fixed at 0.3 in drone mode. |
| KNOB 6 | Threshold | Schmitt comparator trigger level (0.02–0.98). Low = comparator fires on any signal (drone-friendly). High = only loud playing fires the gate. Affects the gate's sparseness when SW2 is engaged. |
3-Position Toggles
SW1 — Divide
CenterOFF. Divider bypassed.
LeftSquare sub-octave. The divider counts input zero-crossings and toggles every N crossings (N set by Pitch knob, modulated by Bleed). Produces a hard square wave one or more octaves below input pitch — ring-modulates the chaos signal.
RightPWM-warped sub. Same divider, but the duty cycle is modulated by the input envelope (with Bleed adding warp depth). Gives a rubbery, formant-like quality.
SW2 — Gate
CenterOFF. Signal passes ungated.
LeftXOR gate. The held comparator XOR's against the divider/osc state. Hard-chopped, clicky, almost MIDI-like in feel.
RightAND gate. Output only sounds when comparator AND chaos voices all align. Sparse, sputtering, much quieter — rewarding to play melodic lines through.
SW3 — Oscillator
CenterOFF in normal mode; forced ON when DIP_1 (drone) is engaged regardless of switch position.
LeftSquare wave. Single-frequency Schmitt-style oscillator at Pitch × Rate freq. In drone mode, follows the pitch tracker.
RightSquare + sub-square. Adds a second flip-flop running at half the osc frequency, summed in. Fatter, hollow body. Recommended for drone mode.
DIP Switches — Drone Engine
DIP 1 — Drone
Engages the Audrey II drone engine. With DIP_1 on AND Kelpie engaged (FS2):
- The Schmitt oscillator free-runs continuously at the tracked pitch of your last played note (or the Pitch knob frequency if you haven't played yet).
- The drone voice is mixed with the guitar+chaos output — you can still play over it.
- Internal chaos bleed is held at fixed 0.3 to keep the engine stable while you control drone mix via the Bleed knob.
- The drone holds indefinitely through silence — the last detected pitch persists until you play something else.
Pitch tracker: dry input is band-passed (70 Hz HP + 1.2 kHz LP), zero-crossings are detected with hysteresis (±0.02), period is converted to frequency, then smoothed with a one-pole filter and slew-limited. Tracker only updates when the envelope follower is above 0.005 — below that, the last value is held. Tracking range ~60 Hz–1500 Hz (covers full guitar range).
DIP 2 — Sub-Growl
When the drone is on, the divider's square output (one octave below tracked pitch, possibly more depending on Pitch knob) is summed into the drone voice and scaled to prevent clipping. Adds a fat, throat-y low end — the difference between Audrey as a sapling and Audrey as a giant.
DIP 3 — Breathing
A ~0.5 Hz triangle LFO modulates drone amplitude over a 0.4–1.0 range. The drone audibly inhales and exhales on its own. Pair with low Drone Level for a subtle "alive" texture; crank Drone Level for full Audrey-II-on-stage swells.
DIP 4 — Feed Me
Envelope follower on dry input drives two simultaneous modulations of the drone:
- Gain swell: drone amplitude boosts up to 1.8× during loud playing, decays back over ~1 second of silence. Pluck harder = drone roars louder.
- Pitch bend: the drone's frequency bends up to +5% (~+1 semitone) on each pluck, then settles. Adds an organic "responding to you" quality.
Envelope follower: fast attack (0.01), slow release (0.0008). The drone always returns to baseline because the release is gentle but inevitable.
Killer combo: DIP_1 + DIP_3 + DIP_4 together. Drone breathes baseline, and surges when you play. Crank Bleed (drone level) to 60–80%, Pitch low (around 9 o'clock for E2-ish fundamental), Threshold high so the gate only fires on intentional notes. Play sparse single notes and let Audrey react.
Footswitches
| Switch | Action | Behavior |
| FS1 | Bypass | Toggles on release (so it doesn't double-fire during a hold gesture). Uses true software bypass — when off, dry signal passes through unmodified. |
| FS2 | Kelpie engage | Tap-latch / hold-momentary. Quick tap (under 300 ms) latches Kelpie on/off. Hold longer than 300 ms = momentary engage that releases when you let go. Must be engaged for any drone or chaos to sound. |
| FS1+FS2 | 0.5 s hold | Toggles Expression Set Mode. LEDs change behavior to indicate mode. |
| FS1+FS2 | 2 s hold | Clears all expression mappings. |
| FS1+FS2 | at power-up | Enters DFU bootloader for firmware flashing. |
MIDI
| Message | Mapping | Notes |
| CC 14–19 | Knobs 1–6 | 0–127 maps to knob 0.0–1.0. Physical knob movement releases MIDI takeover for that knob. |
| CC 20 | Bypass | Value ≥ 64 = pressed (toggles bypass). |
| CC 21 | Kelpie engage | ≥ 64 latches Kelpie on, < 64 latches off. |
| Note On | Pitch override | Forces oscillator base frequency to the MIDI note (mtof). In drone mode, this overrides the pitch tracker so MIDI controls the drone pitch directly while the note is held. |
| Note Off | Release | Returns oscillator to knob/tracker control. |
Expression Jack
- Hold FS1+FS2 for 0.5 s — enters Expression Set Mode (LEDs pulse).
- Move the expression pedal to your heel position. Set knobs to the values you want at heel.
- Move the expression pedal to your toe position. Set knobs to the values you want at toe.
- Hold FS1+FS2 for 0.5 s again to exit. Mappings are saved.
- To clear all expression mappings, hold FS1+FS2 for 2 s.
The expression pedal interpolates between heel and toe positions across all six knobs. Knobs you didn't touch in either position aren't mapped.
LEDs
- LED 1 (left): bypass status — on when engaged.
- LED 2 (right): Kelpie active. Overridden during Expression Set Mode for visual feedback.
Kelpie
Hothouse + Daisy Seed · Mono · 3-position toggles
The classic Kelpie chaos engine on Hothouse hardware: fuzz foundation with engageable logic-noise layer (ring-mod divider, XOR/bit-crush gating, Schmitt oscillator, and crosstalk). No drone mode — for that, see the FunBox variant. Footswitch convention is reversed from Terrarium per Hothouse standard: FS1 engages, FS2 bypasses.
Knobs
| Knob | Function | Behavior |
| KNOB 1 | Volume | Output level. |
| KNOB 2 | Fuzz | 2-stage cascaded tanh saturation, gain/saturation foundation layer. |
| KNOB 3 | Pitch | Oscillator base frequency + divide ratio. Higher = faster osc, smaller divisor (less octave drop). |
| KNOB 4 | Rate | Logic clock speed. Slow = stuttery, fast = noise wall. |
| KNOB 5 | Bleed | Cross-corruption depth between logic layers (osc warps divider, divider warps osc). |
| KNOB 6 | Thresh | Logic gate trigger threshold (when to fire the comparator). |

Fuzz Destroyer
FunBox v3 + Daisy Seed · Stereo · MIDI · Expression
Stutter fuzz with the FunBox extras. Self-oscillating feedback, octave up/down, wave fold + sample crush stacking, three stutter shapes, and a stutter-mode switch that turns the right footswitch from a hold-to-stutter into a tap-latch or always-on chopper. Stereo detune and MIDI-locked self-oscillation pitch round out the destruction.
Knobs
| Knob | Function | Behavior |
| KNOB 1 | Volume | Output level. Final clip is post-volume. |
| KNOB 2 | Drive | 1×–200× scaling. The cascade is harsh; even modest settings sound destroyed. |
| KNOB 3 | Tone | OnePole low-pass. Crank for ice-pick, roll back for the wall. |
| KNOB 4 | Stab | Feedback oscillation depth — drives a short delay loop fed back into the fuzz input. At >50% with no input the loop self-oscillates into a sustained squeal. With DIP_3 on, the squeal latches indefinitely; with MIDI Note On, the squeal pitch is locked to MIDI. |
| KNOB 5 | Gate | Noise gate threshold for sputtery, velcro fuzz at high settings. At low settings the pedal hisses freely. |
| KNOB 6 | Stutter Speed | Frequency of the stutter chopper when active. |
3-Position Toggles
SW1 — Octave
CenterOff — straight fuzz, no octave generation.
LeftOctave up — full-wave rectifier creating a harsh octave-up tone.
RightOctave down (NEW) — comparator-divider flip-flops on every other zero crossing, producing a CMOS/OC-2-style square sub-octave that's envelope-tracked and ring-modulated with the input. Thicker low end, with the original fundamental still poking through.
SW2 — Stutter Shape
CenterSquare chop — hard amplitude gate, on/off click.
LeftTriangle tremolo — smooth amplitude swell.
RightRamp saw (NEW) — linear ramp 0→1 then snap to 0. Each stutter pulse has a "kick"-style envelope.
SW3 — Stutter Mode
CenterHold — original behavior. FS2 momentary; release = stutter off.
LeftTap-latch — FS2 toggles stutter on/off. LED reflects state.
RightAuto-on — stutter is always active when the pedal is engaged. FS2 momentarily disables stutter while held (a "kill" footswitch). Set-and-forget for live perpetual chopping.
DIP Switches
DIP 1 — Wave Fold
Carries over from Terrarium SW1. Wave-folder blended into the fuzz path, additive harmonics. Stacks with DIP_2.
DIP 2 — Sample Crush
Carries over from Terrarium SW3. Sample-rate decimator. Stacks with DIP_1 — together produces the "ultimate destruction" tone.
DIP 3 — Self-Osc Lock
When on AND Stab knob > 50%, the input contribution to the feedback loop is suppressed and the loop self-oscillates regardless of whether you're playing. Result: pedal becomes a no-input drone tool. Stab knob still controls depth, Tone shapes the tail. Combined with MIDI Note On, you can play melodies on the squeal.
DIP 4 — Stereo Detune
Per-channel modulated delay (~12 ms center) with sine LFOs at 0.30 Hz (L) and 0.42 Hz (R), depth ±1 ms, phases offset. Result is a Boss-CE-style stereo chorus spread on the fuzz output. Off: both channels mono-identical. On: lush, wide, almost shoegaze. Detune buffers stay updated even when off, so re-engaging is instant.
No-input drone patch: SW1 center, SW3 center (stutter hold mode), DIP_3 on, DIP_4 on. Stab to 70%, Tone to taste, Drive to ~12 o'clock. Don't play anything — pedal sustains its own squeal in stereo. Plug a MIDI keyboard, send Note On, and the squeal tracks the pitch.
Footswitches

| CC 14–19 | Knobs 1–6 with takeover. |
| CC 20 | Bypass toggle (≥ 64 = press). |
| CC 21 | Stutter on/off (≥ 64 = active). Overrides FS2 state in any SW3 mode. |
| CC 22 | Octave step. Each receive cycles: off → up → down → off. Only takes effect when SW1 is centered (physical switch wins). |
| Note On | Stab pitch lock. Self-oscillation frequency is forced to MIDI note (mtof). Note Off returns to natural self-oscillation. Wins over DIP_3 lock — can stack (locked drone singing the MIDI pitch). |

Fuzz Modulator
FunBox v3 + Daisy Seed · Stereo · MIDI · Expression
Granular glitch fuzz with the FunBox extras. Same 3-stage cascaded fuzz feeding a grain buffer, plus stereo grain pingpong, wave-folding, hard stutter mode, an envelope-driven Warp, and MIDI-triggered grain capture. Footswitch 2 holds for momentary delay repeats.
Knobs
| Knob | Function | Behavior |
| KNOB 1 | Volume | Output level. Final hard-clip safety net is post-volume. |
| KNOB 2 | Fuzz | 3-stage cascaded clipping with asymmetric mid stage. Total gain ~4×–600× scaling. With DIP_1 on, the final stage swaps hard clip for a sine-based wave fold (more odd harmonics, smoother fold-back). |
| KNOB 3 | Tone | OnePole low-pass post-fuzz. Higher = brighter. |
| KNOB 4 | Grain Size | Capture window length, 5 ms to 200 ms. Short = hyper-stuttery; long = smearable, almost reverb-like at high rates. |
| KNOB 5 | Grain Rate | Retrigger frequency, 0.5 Hz to 40 Hz. With SW3 in envelope or LFO mode, this is the baseline that gets modulated ±50%. |
| KNOB 6 | Warp | Grain playback speed. Knob center ≈ 1× (original speed). Half-speed at low end (deep, dragging), 2× at top end (chipmunk, glitchy fast). With DIP_4 on, envelope multiplies this by 0.5×–2× based on input dynamics. With MIDI Note On held, MIDI pitch overrides Warp. |
3-Position Toggles
SW1 — Direction
CenterGrain disabled. Pedal is a straight fuzz. Useful as a baseline.
LeftForward grain — captured audio plays in the original direction.
RightReverse grain — captured audio plays backward. Combined with high Warp = warbly tape rewind effect.
SW2 — Feed
CenterCapture disabled. Grain buffer freezes; existing contents will play out and loop. Useful for "freezing" a captured texture.
LeftClean repeats — grain captures pre-fuzz signal, plays back through the fuzz cascade. Each repeat sounds fresh.
RightRe-fuzzed — grain captures post-fuzz signal, no second pass. Cleaner repeats with the original fuzz character intact.
SW3 — Modulation Source
CenterManual — knobs only.
LeftEnvelope-follow — input level scales Grain Rate ±50%. Pluck harder = faster retrigger.
RightLFO sweep — slow ~0.1 Hz triangle modulates Grain Rate ±50%. Hands-off slow-cycling glitch.
DIP Switches — Bonus Modes
DIP 1 — Wave Fold
Replaces the hard clip in the fuzz output stage with a sine-based wave folder (sin(in × π/2)). At high Fuzz settings produces strong odd harmonics with smooth fold-back instead of the clipper's flat-topped harshness. Pair with low Tone for a synthy, square-wave-meets-fold quality.
DIP 2 — Stutter
Skips the 1.3 ms anti-click crossfade on grain retrigger. Result: hard, clicky digital chop with no smoothing. Good for high-rate, percussive grain machine effects. Combine with very short Grain Size for granular drum-machine textures.
DIP 3 — Stereo Pingpong
Consecutive grains pan alternately to the left and right channels. The inactive channel still receives the fuzzed dry + delay signal so the pedal stays full-sounding while grains alternate. Without this DIP, both channels carry the same grain output. Especially good with envelope-modulated Grain Rate (SW3 left).
DIP 4 — Auto-Warp
Envelope follower drives Warp. Quiet input = Warp pulled down toward 0.5× of the knob value; loud input = pushed up to 2×. Plays well with light, dynamic playing — pluck softly for slow-mo grains, dig in for fast.
Killer combo: SW1 forward, SW2 clean repeats, SW3 envelope, DIP_3 + DIP_4 on. Grain Rate ~3–8 Hz, small grain size. Result is a stereo, dynamics-responsive granular cloud that gets faster and higher-pitched the harder you play.
Footswitches
| Switch | Action | Behavior |
| FS1 | Bypass | Toggles on FallingEdge. Dry passes through unchanged + delay trail mixes in so repeats can decay naturally when toggled off mid-hold. |

| FS1+FS2 | 0.5 s hold | Toggles Expression Set Mode. |
| FS1+FS2 | 2 s hold | Clears expression mappings. |
| FS1+FS2 | at power-up | DFU bootloader. |

| CC 22 | Grain Trigger — any value forces a fresh grain capture at the current write index with current knob params. Use this to manually re-arm a grain on demand. |
| Note On | Warp pitch lock — overrides Warp to play the grain at the MIDI note's pitch. Baseline = MIDI 60 (C4) = 1× warp. Formula: warp = 2^((note - 60) / 12). |
| Note Off | Returns to knob/Auto-Warp control. |

| FS2 (SW4 = age) | Tape aging — adds dropouts, flutter, and noise to the extra-head signal while held. Sounds like the tape is degrading in real time. |
Treat Octave Fuzz
Terrarium + Daisy Seed · Mono
Sleigh Bells / "Treats"-inspired octave destroyer. Multi-octave layering (sub, dry, octave up, +2 octaves) slammed into iMic-style ADC hard clipping for that flat-topped, harsh, digital fuzz. Lo-Fi Drop footswitch instantly degrades to phone-speaker territory.
Knobs
| Knob | Function |
| KNOB 1 | Volume (0× to 2×) |
| KNOB 2 | Slam (iMic clip gain 1× to 50×) |
| KNOB 3 | Tone (post-clip LP filter) |
| KNOB 4 | Sub (sub-octave voice level) |
| KNOB 5 | Dry (clean voice level — yes, you can solo any one voice) |
| KNOB 6 | Up (octave-up voice level) |
iMic clipping: asymmetric hard clip with positive ceiling at 0.9 and negative floor at -1.0. Flat-topped, harsh, digital — modeled on the original iMic ADC behavior that made the "Treats" record sound the way it does.

Sag-Dīd Ritual Wavefolder
FunBox v3 + Daisy Seed · Stereo · MIDI · Expression
A west-coast wavefolder: instead of clipping the signal flat, it reflects the waveform back on itself, multiplying harmonics into bright, bell-like, vowel-y timbres. Stack a sub or octave-up underneath, sweep the tilt EQ, open an envelope filter, and run the whole thing through a sweepable phaser. The FSW2 footswitch freezes the buffer or jumps an octave, and MIDI notes can drive the fold, phaser, and a glitch stutter.
Signal Chain
Input → octave/sub generation (SW1) → wavefolder (Fold) → tilt-shift EQ (Tilt) → envelope filter (Sensitivity) → phaser (Depth/Rate, targeted by SW2) → Volume → output. Folding happens before the filters so the EQ and envelope shape the harmonics the folder generates rather than feeding them in.
Knobs
| Knob | Function | Behavior |
| KNOB 1 | Volume | Output level. Folding adds substantial harmonic energy, so expect to pull this back from the clean unity point. |
| KNOB 2 | Fold | Wavefold amount. Low = a touch of edge on peaks. As you turn up, the waveform reflects more times per cycle, stacking octaves and odd harmonics into clangorous, ring-mod-like territory. The single most important knob. |
| KNOB 3 | Tilt | Tilt-shift EQ. A single control that pivots the spectrum around a center frequency — counter-clockwise tilts toward dark/bassy (cuts highs, boosts lows), clockwise tilts toward bright/thin (boosts highs, cuts lows). Noon is flat. Tames or accentuates the fizz the folder produces. |
| KNOB 4 | Sensitivity | Envelope filter responsiveness — how far and how hard the dynamic filter sweeps in response to your picking. Low = subtle wah on hard hits; high = quacky, vowel-y auto-wah on everything. Inert when the filter is bypassed (see DIP/switch notes). |
| KNOB 5 | Phaser Depth | Depth of the phaser sweep — how much the all-pass notches move. At zero the phaser is effectively off; at max you get deep, hollow whooshing. |
| KNOB 6 | Phaser Rate | LFO speed of the phaser sweep, slow swells through fast warble. |
3-Position Toggles
SW1 — Octave
CenterRaw only. The folder works on the dry input pitch alone.
LeftSub + raw. Adds a sub-octave underneath the folded voice for weight and a fuller fundamental to fold against.
RightSub + octave up. Sub-octave plus an octave-up voice — the widest harmonic spread, brightest and most synth-like.
SW2 — Phaser Target
CenterFull. The phaser processes the entire folded signal.
LeftLows only. Phaser is band-limited to the low end — adds motion to the body while highs stay static.
RightHighs only. Phaser sweeps just the top end — shimmer and sparkle motion over a solid low end.
SW3 — FSW2 Mode
CenterMomentary octave-up. Hold FS2 to jump the output an octave; releases when you let go.
LeftMomentary freeze. Hold FS2 to freeze the buffer into a sustained pad; releases on let-go.
RightLatching freeze. Tap FS2 to latch an infinite freeze on/off, hands-free.
DIP Switches — MIDI Note Routing
Each DIP routes incoming MIDI note pitch (and/or velocity) to a destination, so a sequencer or keyboard can play the folder dynamically. Multiple DIPs can be on at once.
| DIP | Mapping |
| DIP 1 | MIDI note → Fold amount. Higher notes fold harder. |
| DIP 2 | MIDI note → Phaser depth. |
| DIP 3 | MIDI note → Phaser rate. |
| DIP 4 | MIDI note → Glitch stutter. Notes trigger buffer-stutter glitches for rhythmic, sequenced chaos. |
Footswitches
| Switch | Action |
| FS1 | Bypass (fires on release). |
| FS2 | FSW2 — freeze or octave-up per SW3 (momentary or latching per the chosen mode). |
| FS1+FS2 | 0.5 s hold — Expression Set Mode. |
| FS1+FS2 | 2 s hold — clear expression mappings. |
| FS1+FS2 | at power-up — DFU bootloader. |
MIDI
| Message | Mapping |
| CC 14–19 | Knobs 1–6 (with takeover). |
| CC 20 | Bypass (≥ 64 = bypassed). |
| CC 21 | FSW2 (≥ 64 = active). |
| Note On | Routed to fold / phaser depth / phaser rate / glitch stutter per the enabled DIP switches. |
Expression Jack
Defaults unmapped — suggested target: KNOB 2 (Fold) for foot-swept harmonic intensity, or KNOB 6 (Phaser Rate). Assign via FS1+FS2 0.5 s Set Mode.
Usage tip: for a classic west-coast lead, set SW1 to Sub+raw, Fold around 1–2 o'clock, Tilt just past noon, and a slow Phaser on Full. Pick dynamics with a touch of Sensitivity make the folder "speak." For sequenced synth lines, enable DIP 1 (note→fold) and DIP 4 (note→stutter) and drive it from a MIDI keyboard.

Sag-Dīd Ritual Wavefolder
Hothouse + Daisy Seed · Mono · 3-position toggles
The west-coast wavefolder on Hothouse hardware: sub/octave generation, tilt EQ, envelope filter, and a sweepable phaser, with the Terrarium's switches compressed into three 3-position toggles. No DIPs or MIDI. Footswitches are reversed from Terrarium per Hothouse convention — FS1 is FSW2, FS2 bypasses.
Signal Chain
Input → octave/sub generation (TOGGLE 1) → wavefolder (Fold) → tilt-shift EQ (Tilt) → envelope filter (Sensitivity) → phaser (Depth/Rate, targeted by TOGGLE 2) → Volume → output.
Knobs
| Knob | Function | Behavior |
| KNOB 1 | Volume | Output level. Pull back from unity — folding adds a lot of harmonic energy. |
| KNOB 2 | Fold | Wavefold amount. Reflects the waveform on itself, stacking octaves and odd harmonics into clangorous, bell-like timbres. The core control. |
| KNOB 3 | Tilt | Tilt-shift EQ. CCW = dark/bassy, CW = bright/thin, noon = flat. Tames or accentuates the folder's fizz. |
| KNOB 4 | Sensitivity | Envelope filter responsiveness to picking dynamics. Low = subtle, high = quacky auto-wah. |
| KNOB 5 | Phaser Depth | Depth of the all-pass sweep. Zero ≈ phaser off; max = deep hollow whoosh. |
| KNOB 6 | Phaser Rate | Phaser LFO speed, slow swell to fast warble. |

Sag-Dīd Ritual Wavefolder
Terrarium + Daisy Seed · Mono
The west-coast wavefolder on Terrarium hardware: sub-octave generation, tilt EQ, an envelope filter, and a sweepable phaser, all controlled by four simple two-position switches. Fold the waveform back on itself for bright, bell-like, vowel-y harmonics, then freeze or octave-jump on the footswitch.
Signal Chain
Input → optional sub-octave (SW1) → wavefolder (Fold) → tilt-shift EQ (Tilt) → optional envelope filter (SW4, Sensitivity) → phaser (Depth/Rate, targeted by SW2) → Volume → output.
Knobs
| Knob | Function |
| KNOB 1 | Volume |
| KNOB 2 | Fold (wavefold amount — reflects the waveform on itself, stacking harmonics) |
| KNOB 3 | Tilt (tilt-shift EQ — CCW dark, noon flat, CW bright) |
| KNOB 4 | Sensitivity (envelope filter responsiveness; active only when SW4 is on) |
| KNOB 5 | Phaser Depth |
| KNOB 6 | Phaser Rate |
Wavefolding: unlike a clipper that flattens peaks, the folder reflects the signal back when it exceeds a threshold, adding new harmonics each time it folds. More Fold = more reflections = denser, more ring-mod-like, octave-rich timbres. It's the heart of the pedal.
Switches
| Switch | Function |
| SW1 | Sub-octave on/off (adds a sub-octave voice under the folded signal) |
| SW2 | Phaser target — full / lows only |
| SW3 | FSW2 mode — freeze / octave-up |
| SW4 | Envelope filter on/off (enables the Sensitivity-controlled auto-wah) |
Footswitches
| Switch | Action |
| FS1 | Bypass |
| FS2 | FSW2 — freeze the buffer or jump an octave per SW3. |
Usage tip: SW1 on (sub) with Fold around 1–2 o'clock and Tilt just past noon gives a fat, harmonically rich lead. Flip SW4 on and add a little Sensitivity so the filter opens on hard picking. Set SW3 to freeze and hold FS2 to sustain a folded chord into a pad.
A.W.O.O. — Auto Wah Octave Overload
FunBox v3 + Daisy Seed · Stereo · MIDI · Expression
A bark machine. A.W.O.O. takes your guitar and makes it bark like a dog: an envelope reshaper chops sustained notes into short, punchy bursts, a three-band formant filter colors each burst with the nasal "woof" vowel, and every bark gets a quick downward pitch bend on its tail. A clean sub-octave adds chest rumble, the Size knob sets the breed from yappy small dog to deep big dog, and DIP-enabled glitch and crush degrade the whole thing into a broken-walkie-talkie snarl. Hold the second footswitch to howl, growl, or whimper.
Signal Chain
Input → sub-octave mix (Sub) → envelope reshaper (bark bursts, Rate/Decay) → formant filter bank (~400/800/1200 Hz, shifted by Size, blended by Bark) → pitch bend (down per burst) → glitch / crush (DIPs) → Volume → output. The reshaper gates first so the formant filters and bend shape discrete barks rather than a continuous tone.
Knobs
| Knob | Function | Behavior |
| KNOB 1 | Volume | Output level (0–2×). |
| KNOB 2 | Bark | Formant filter depth — the dry/formant blend. Low = your guitar with just a hint of nasal coloring (a subtle growl); high = the signal is fully voiced through the formant bank for a full dog bark. |
| KNOB 3 | Rate | Bark burst speed. Drives the envelope reshaper: the LFO auto-bark interval and the spacing of bursts inside a double/yap group. CCW = single deliberate woofs; CW = rapid yapping. |
| KNOB 4 | Size | Dog size — shifts all three formant frequencies together. Left = small dog (high formants, yip); center = medium dog; right = big dog (low formants, deep woof). |
| KNOB 5 | Sub | Sub-octave depth. Mixes a clean octave-down voice underneath the bark for chest rumble and weight. |
| KNOB 6 | Decay | How long each bark sustains before the gate closes. Short = a tight "ruff"; long = a drawn-out "wooooof". Also sets how far the pitch bend travels within a burst. |
3-Position Toggles
SW1 — Bark Style
CenterDouble bark — two bursts per trigger ("ruff ruff").
LeftSingle woof — one burst per trigger.
RightRapid yap — 3–4 quick barks per trigger.
SW2 — Trigger Mode
CenterLFO auto-bark — barks automatically at the Rate speed regardless of input.
LeftPick attack — your picking dynamics trigger each bark.
RightEnvelope follower — harder picking makes a louder, more intense bark.
SW3 — FSW2 Mode
CenterGrowl — sustained low rumble; bypasses the bark gate for a continuous menacing growl while FS2 is held.
LeftHowl — sustains the signal and bends pitch slowly upward while held ("awoooo").
RightWhimper — pitch bends down, formants shift high, short soft bursts while held.
DIP Switches
| DIP | Function |
| DIP 1 | Multi-bark — adds 2–3 rapid barks per trigger (excited dog). Stacks with the Rate knob and SW1 style. |
| DIP 2 | Glitch stutter — randomly repeats tiny chunks of the bark buffer at irregular intervals, like a bark through a broken speaker. Stacks with DIP 3. |
| DIP 3 | Sample crush — bit-reduces and sample-rate crushes the bark. Dog barking through a walkie-talkie. Stacks with DIP 2. |
| DIP 4 | MIDI bark — Note On triggers a bark, the note sets the formant (bark pitch), velocity sets intensity. With DIP 2 + DIP 3 on, MIDI triggers glitched, crushed barks. |

Expression Jack
Defaults unmapped — suggested target: KNOB 4 (Size) to foot-sweep the dog from small to large, or KNOB 3 (Rate). Assign via FS1+FS2 0.5 s Set Mode.
Usage tip: for a classic bark, set SW2 to Pick attack, SW1 to Double bark, Bark past noon, Size at center, and a medium Decay — then pick staccato and it answers "ruff ruff." Turn on DIP 1 for an excited dog, or DIP 2 + DIP 3 for a junkyard-radio snarl. Hold FS2 with SW3 on Howl for a slow "awoooo."
LEDs
- LED 1: Bypass status (engaged).
- LED 2: FSW2 active, and blinks on each bark trigger.
A.W.O.O. — Auto Wah Octave Overload
Hothouse + Daisy Seed · Mono · 3-position toggles
The bark machine on Hothouse hardware: envelope reshaper, three-band formant filter, sub-octave rumble, and per-burst pitch bend, with the trigger and voice options compressed into three 3-position toggles. No DIPs or MIDI. Footswitches are reversed from Terrarium per Hothouse convention — FS1 is FSW2, FS2 bypasses.
Signal Chain
Input → sub-octave mix (Sub) → envelope reshaper (bark bursts, Rate/Decay) → formant filter bank (~400/800/1200 Hz, shifted by Size, blended by Bark) → pitch bend (down per burst) → Volume → output.
Knobs
| Knob | Function | Behavior |
| KNOB 1 | Volume | Output level (0–2×). |
| KNOB 2 | Bark | Formant filter depth (dry/formant blend). Low = a hint of growl; high = a full dog bark. |
| KNOB 3 | Rate | Bark burst speed — LFO auto interval and intra-group spacing. CCW = deliberate woofs; CW = rapid yapping. |
| KNOB 4 | Size | Dog size — shifts the formant frequencies. Left = small dog (yip); center = medium; right = big dog (deep woof). |
| KNOB 5 | Sub | Sub-octave depth — chest rumble under the bark. |
| KNOB 6 | Decay | Bark length — short "ruff" to drawn-out "wooooof". |
3-Position Toggles
TOGGLE 1 — Bark Style
UpSingle woof — one burst per trigger.
MiddleDouble bark — two bursts ("ruff ruff").
DownRapid yap — 3–4 quick barks per trigger.
TOGGLE 2 — Trigger Mode
UpPick attack — playing dynamics trigger barks.
MiddleLFO auto-bark — barks at the Rate speed regardless of input.
DownEnvelope follower — harder picking = louder, more intense bark.
TOGGLE 3 — FSW2 Mode
UpHowl — sustain + slow upward bend while FS1 is held ("awoooo").
MiddleGrowl — sustained low rumble; bypasses the bark gate while held.
DownWhimper — down bend, high formants, short soft bursts while held.
Footswitches (note: reversed from Terrarium)
| Switch | Action |
| FS1 (left) | FSW2 — howl / growl / whimper per TOGGLE 3. |
| FS2 (right) | Bypass. |
| FS1+FS2 | at power-up — DFU bootloader. |
Usage tip: TOGGLE 2 on Pick attack with TOGGLE 1 on Double bark answers your picking with "ruff ruff." Roll Size left and shorten Decay for a frantic small-dog yap; roll Size right with more Sub for a big-dog woof. Hold FS1 with TOGGLE 3 on Howl for a rising "awoooo."

A.W.O.O. — Auto Wah Octave Overload
Terrarium + Daisy Seed · Mono
The bark machine on Terrarium hardware: an envelope reshaper chops your guitar into short bark bursts, a three-band formant filter gives them the nasal "woof" vowel, and each burst bends down on its tail. Sub-octave adds chest rumble and a glitch stutter breaks the bark up like a bad speaker — all on four simple two-position switches. Hold the right footswitch to howl or growl.
Signal Chain
Input → sub-octave mix (Sub) → envelope reshaper (bark bursts, Rate/Decay) → formant filter bank (~400/800/1200 Hz, shifted by Size, blended by Bark) → pitch bend (down per burst) → glitch stutter (SW4) → Volume → output.
Knobs
| Knob | Function |
| KNOB 1 | Volume |
| KNOB 2 | Bark (formant filter depth — hint of growl to full bark) |
| KNOB 3 | Rate (bark burst speed — slow woofs to rapid yapping) |
| KNOB 4 | Size (dog size — left = small/yip, right = big/woof) |
| KNOB 5 | Sub (sub-octave chest rumble) |
| KNOB 6 | Decay (bark length — short ruff to long wooof) |
How the bark works: the reshaper opens an instant-attack gate on each trigger and lets it decay, chopping sustained notes into punchy bursts. The formant bank — three resonant bandpass filters at the dog-bark vowel resonances — colors those bursts, and a quick downward pitch bend on each one gives the bark its falling "woof" shape.
Switches
| Switch | Function |
| SW1 | Bark style — off = single woof / on = rapid yap |
| SW2 | Trigger mode — off = pick attack / on = LFO auto-bark |
| SW3 | FSW2 mode — off = howl / on = growl |
| SW4 | Glitch stutter on/off (random tiny buffer repeats) |
Footswitches
| Switch | Action |
| FS1 | Bypass. |
| FS2 | FSW2 — howl or growl per SW3 (momentary, held). |
| FS1+FS2 | at power-up — DFU bootloader. |
Usage tip: SW2 off (pick attack) with SW1 off (single woof), Bark past noon and a short Decay turns staccato picking into clipped barks. Flip SW1 on for a yap, add Sub for a bigger dog, and flip SW4 on for a broken-speaker stutter. Hold FS2 with SW3 off to howl.
LEDs
- LED 1 (left): Engaged (not bypassed).
- LED 2 (right): FSW2 active, and blinks on each bark.
Swamp Donkey
FunBox v3 + Daisy Seed · Stereo · MIDI · Expression
Think Donkey eating a pickle while playing a banjo. In a swamp. That's the whole pedal. The Swamp Donkey is four stacking effect layers — because, as a great ogre once explained, ogres are like onions, and onions have layers, and so does this. BANJO adds a plucky transient and a bright metallic comb twang. DONKEY runs a three-band formant filter that sweeps "EE → AW" on every pick attack, so your guitar brays. PICKLE demolishes the signal with a bitcrusher and a sour 303-style acid filter. SWAMP drowns the whole thing in a dark, muddy reverb with a slow underwater wobble. The Layers knob decides how many of them stack at once — from one polite effect to the full braying swamp.
Signal Chain
Input → Banjo (transient pluck + comb twang) → Donkey (EE-AW formant bray) → Pickle (bitcrush + acid squelch) → Swamp (dark reverb + modulated delay wobble) → global FX (Farquaad / Waffles / Dragon) → Volume → output. Each stage's depth is its own knob multiplied by a Layers gate, so the chain fades from clean to chaos as you stack layers on.
Knobs
| Knob | Function | Behavior |
| KNOB 1 | Volume | Output level (0–2×). |
| KNOB 2 | Donkey | Formant bray intensity. 0 = just your guitar; full = a complete "EE-AW" donkey transformation on every note. The vowel-sweep speed follows your pick dynamics — hit harder, bray faster. |
| KNOB 3 | Pickle | Crunch amount. 0 = clean; full = absolutely demolished bitcrushed acid squelch. Combines sample-rate reduction (down to ~4 kHz) and bit-depth reduction with a resonant acid-filter sweep. |
| KNOB 4 | Banjo | Twang amount — comb-filter depth plus transient pluck shaper. 0 = normal attack; full = everything sounds like it was played on a rusty banjo. |
| KNOB 5 | Swamp | Reverb/delay mix. 0 = dry; full = drowning in a muddy swamp. Deliberately dark and murky with a slow ~0.3 Hz modulated wobble. |
| KNOB 6 | Layers | "Ogres have layers." Crossfade that sets how many stages are active. At 0, only the single loudest layer (per knobs 2–5); as you turn up they fade in one at a time — banjo → donkey → pickle → swamp — until at full everything stacks. Dial in exactly how much swamp you want. |
3-Position Toggles
SW1 — Donkey Voice
CenterTalking donkey — random vowel shapes, like Donkey will not shut up the entire car ride.
LeftClassic bray — clean "EE-AW" sweep on each note.
RightWailing donkey — slower, more dramatic vowel sweeps with vibrato.
SW2 — Pickle Style
CenterKosher pickle — medium crunch, more sour (deeper crush, more resonant filter).
LeftDill pickle — mild crunch, subtle acid.
RightGhost pepper pickle — MAXIMUM crush and screaming resonance. Not for the faint of heart.
SW3 — FSW2 Mode
Center"I'm making waffles" — momentary octave-up with the donkey bray cranked. Annoying, bright, in-your-face. Donkey at his most excited.
Left"GET OUT OF MY SWAMP" — momentary full-wet reverb blast with extra feedback. Hold it and everything drowns; release and it trails off.
Right"Onion mode" — latching. Each tap peels on another layer: banjo → donkey → pickle → swamp → back to dry.
DIP Switches
| DIP | Function |
| DIP 1 | Fairy-tale glitch — random buffer stutters like a scratched DVD of Shrek, triggered probabilistically on pick attacks. |
| DIP 2 | Lord Farquaad mode — pitch-shifts everything down an octave. Everything sounds lower and more menacing (he's compensating). |
| DIP 3 | Dragon mode — a screaming feedback oscillator that pitch-tracks your note and fades in the longer you sustain. The longer you hold, the more it screams (Dragon's singing voice). |
| DIP 4 | MIDI Shrek — incoming MIDI notes summon characters: low notes = Shrek (deep formant + swamp), mid = Donkey (bray + banjo), high = Fiona (bright formant, clean). Velocity sets intensity. |
Footswitches
| Switch | Action |
| FS1 | Bypass (fires on release). |
| FS2 | FSW2 — swamp blast / waffles / onion per SW3. |
| FS1+FS2 | 0.5 s hold — Expression Set Mode. |
| FS1+FS2 | 2 s hold — clear expression mappings. |
| FS1+FS2 | at power-up — DFU bootloader. |
MIDI

| CC 14–19 | Knobs 1–6 (with takeover). |
| CC 20 | Bypass (≥ 64 = toggle). |
| CC 21 | FSW2 (≥ 64 = active). |
| Note On | Triggers a character when DIP 4 is on — low = Shrek, mid = Donkey, high = Fiona; velocity = intensity. |
Expression Jack
Defaults unmapped — suggested target: KNOB 6 (Layers) to foot-swell from one effect into the full swamp, or KNOB 5 (Swamp). Assign via FS1+FS2 0.5 s Set Mode.
Usage tip: start with everything down and Layers at 0, turn up just Donkey, and pick — that's the bray. Bring Layers up to noon and the banjo twang and pickle crunch fade in behind it. Past 3 o'clock the swamp swallows everything. For the full Far Far Away experience: all four knobs at noon, Layers maxed, SW2 on Ghost Pepper, DIP 3 (Dragon) on, and hold a note until it screams. Hold FS2 with SW3 on "GET OUT OF MY SWAMP" for a reverb bomb.
LEDs
- LED 1: Bypass status (engaged).
- LED 2: FSW2 active. In Onion mode it blinks a count of the current layer stack.
Swamp Donkey
Hothouse + Daisy Seed · Mono · 3-position toggles
The braying swamp on Hothouse hardware: the same four stacking layers — banjo twang, EE-AW donkey formant bray, bitcrush/acid pickle, and dark swamp reverb/wobble — blended by the Layers knob, with the donkey voice, pickle heat, and footswitch mode folded into three 3-position toggles. No DIPs or MIDI (Farquaad, Dragon, glitch, and MIDI Shrek are dropped). Footswitches follow Hothouse convention — FS1 is FSW2, FS2 bypasses.
Signal Chain
Input → Banjo (transient + comb twang) → Donkey (EE-AW formant bray) → Pickle (bitcrush + acid) → Swamp (dark reverb + wobble) → waffles octave-up (when held) → Volume → output.
Knobs
| Knob | Function | Behavior |
| KNOB 1 | Volume | Output level (0–2×). |

| KNOB 3 | Pickle | Bitcrush + acid squelch amount. |
| KNOB 4 | Banjo | Comb-filter twang + transient pluck shaper. |
| KNOB 5 | Swamp | Dark reverb/delay mix with slow wobble. |
| KNOB 6 | Layers | How many layers stack: 0 = the loudest single layer; full = all four (banjo → donkey → pickle → swamp). |
3-Position Toggles
TOGGLE 1 — Donkey Voice
UpClassic bray — "EE-AW" sweep on each note.
MiddleTalking donkey — random vowel shapes, won't shut up.
DownWailing donkey — slow dramatic sweeps with vibrato.
TOGGLE 2 — Pickle Style
UpDill — mild crunch, subtle acid.
MiddleKosher — medium crunch, more sour.
DownGhost pepper — maximum crush + screaming resonance.
TOGGLE 3 — FSW2 Mode
Up"GET OUT OF MY SWAMP" — momentary full-wet reverb blast while FS1 is held.
Middle"I'm making waffles" — momentary octave-up + cranked bray.

Swamp Donkey
Terrarium + Daisy Seed · Mono
The braying swamp on Terrarium hardware: the four stacking layers — banjo twang, EE-AW donkey formant bray, bitcrush/acid pickle, and dark swamp reverb/wobble — blended by the Layers knob, on four simple two-position switches. Adds Dragon mode, a screaming feedback oscillator that grows the longer you sustain. No waffles, Farquaad, glitch, or MIDI on this platform.
Signal Chain
Input → Banjo (transient + comb twang) → Donkey (EE-AW formant bray) → Pickle (bitcrush + acid) → Swamp (dark reverb + wobble) → Dragon (sustain scream, SW4) → Volume → output.
Knobs
| Knob | Function |
| KNOB 1 | Volume |
| KNOB 2 | Donkey (formant bray intensity — sweep speed follows pick dynamics) |
| KNOB 3 | Pickle (bitcrush + 303-style acid squelch) |
| KNOB 4 | Banjo (comb twang + transient pluck) |
| KNOB 5 | Swamp (dark reverb/delay mix with slow wobble) |
| KNOB 6 | Layers (0 = one layer, full = all four stack) |
How the layers work: "Ogres have layers. Onions have layers." Each effect is a layer with its own knob. The Layers knob gates how many are active — at 0 only the loudest single layer plays, and as you turn it up the rest fade in one at a time in the order banjo → donkey → pickle → swamp. Turn it to full and the whole swamp piles on at once.
Switches
| Switch | Function |
| SW1 | Donkey voice — off = classic bray / on = talking donkey |
| SW2 | Pickle style — off = dill / on = ghost pepper |
| SW3 | FSW2 mode — off = swamp blast / on = onion layer stacker |
| SW4 | Dragon mode on/off — screaming feedback oscillator that grows on sustain |
Footswitches

| FS1 | Bypass. |
| FS2 | FSW2 — "GET OUT OF MY SWAMP" momentary reverb blast (SW3 off), or onion layer tap (SW3 on). |
| FS1+FS2 | at power-up — DFU bootloader. |
Usage tip: SW1 off with Donkey past noon and Layers low gives a clean bray; raise Layers to fade in twang, crunch, and swamp. Flip SW2 on for ghost-pepper acid, flip SW4 on and hold a chord to wake the Dragon. Hold FS2 with SW3 off for a momentary swamp bomb.
